Dangling Throat Guards – Here’s Why…
by Art Steburg Saturday, April 12th, 2008Tampa Bay catcher Dioner Navarro was struck in the throat by a pitch in the sixth inning during a game with the Florida Marlins Friday night.
The pitch from Brian Stokes bounced short of the plate and struck Navarro underneath his mask. Trainers, and later paramedics, went to Mr. Navarro’s aid. They eventually strapped him to a backboard and transported him to a hospital.
Please notice that Mr. Navarro was not using a throat guard!
A video of the incident is available here

1st Step on the road to Williamsport
by Art Steburg Friday, April 11th, 2008Welcome to California District 38, where everyone makes a team and everyone plays. We offer Baseball, Softball and Challenger Programs for children ages 4 1/2 to 19. No one cares more about your child than we do. If your childs dream is to play in the Little League World Series then they must play Little League Baseball. There are other programs but most end at the completion of the regular season. District 38 competed in 32 post season tournaments last year, with most of our players competing in at least one of them. The road to Williamsport is a long one that starts at the District level and advances to Section, Division, Region and then to Williamsport. Good Luck and have a safe, fun and rewarding season.
